June 2010 Bay Swim and Party

Many, many thanks to our wonderful Stallings family for hosting another fabulous party at their home on the Chesapeake Bay. They upped the ante by offering a Bay swim course, setting out buoys, and arranging for lovely breezes and some exciting waves.

Joe Stallings, Michele Faulkner and Kathryn Gregory provided safety support from kayaks. Andrea Latell, who had just completed the "I Love the Tavern" triathlon earlier in the day, and Esther Platsis, who earlier had competed in the Jack King 1-mile ocean swim, were quickest  Also swimming the approximate 1500-yard course were Will Stallings, Ray Funkhouser, and Nick Borst.  Donna Funkhouser and Susan Stalling swam to the second buoy for about 900 yards. Congratulations to all!

As usual there was lovely food (highlighted by John's BBQ and Aleksey's Striped Bass with Bacon) and great fun for many ages. We celebrated the very special birthday of Mary Helne, and in his absence, Dick Scott's 75th birthday.
