VMST David Gregg,III Memorial Meet Eight swimmers from the Northern Neck Family YMCA competed in the Virginia Masters David Gregg, III Memorial Meet at Nova Swim Center in Richmond. Held February 9 and 10, the meet attracted more that 140 swimmers, ages 24 to 95. (Incidentally, the little-95-year-old Marie Kelleher set a couple national records at the meet.) Richard (Dick) Scott led the group with first place finishes in five individual events, including a personal record swim in the 200-yard breast stroke. Also participating were Charlotte Hollings, with team records in the 400-yard and the 200-yard individual medley; Sue McKerns, with a personal record in the 200-yard individual medley and 1650-yard freestyle (first place); and Kathy Broderick, garnering two top finishes in the 100-yard freestyle and the 50-yard butterfly. Donna Armento did personal record times in the 100-yard backstroke 50-yard breast stroke, and swam a first-place 50-yard freestyle, which was also a team record. Nick Borst received first places in the 50-yard (novice) and 100-yard freestyle, as well as the 50-yard backstroke (novice). Michele Faulkner finished third in the 100-yard individual medley. (She registered!) Team coach, Kathryn Gregory, received first places in the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard individual medley, and 100-yard free style events. (What I didn't say is that I was "touched out" by a breaststroker in the 50-yard backstroke!)
